Napoli have announced that no season tickets will go on sale for the 2018-19 campaign due to planned work at the San Paolo.
A statement on Napoli’s official website explained the decision came due to ‘total uncertainty’ over the stadium’s preparations for the Universiade Games next summer, while it would ‘avoid inconvenience to the fans’.
Furthermore, ticket holders from last season will have the right of first refusal for each game, although they are not guaranteed the same seat.
“The timing of the works has not been announced to us (neither the start date of the interventions nor the duration of the interventions are known), neither has the project that the relevant authorities intend to implement,” concluded President Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The 55,000-seater San Paolo was recently described as ‘an ever-increasing toilet’ by De Laurentiis but will nonetheless host matches in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Champions League this term.
