Napoli may have missed out on Bernd Leno as the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper has reportedly decided to join Arsenal.

Leno appeared to be on his way to Napoli, but SportBild claims he has accepted an offer from Arsenal over the Partenopei, while also rejecting Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

Furthermore, announcement of the deal will be made ‘shortly’, despite the German’s €28m release clause having ‘expired’.

The Serie A runners-up had already lost Pepe Reina to Milan and were beaten to Mattia Perin by Juventus.

They also appeared to have pulled the plug on Rui Patricio with the intention of pursuing a deal for the 26-year-old.
